Stormwater Pump Lift Station Radar Level Measurement

Stormwater Pump Lift Station Radar Level Measurement

When the California Department of Transportation needed reliable level measurement of the largest stormwater lift station in Los Angeles, they turned to Flowline. Located below the intersection of two freeways, the station is typically dry. But during El Nino rains, it has the capacity to hold and transfer tens of thousands of gallons per hour. The vault is a maze of trash gates and cat walks, and the only level measurement space is a small 2′ x 3′ area in the corner. Operators complained that a previous radar level sensor measured intermittently when ever the level dropped below the catwalk. For this reason, Flowline suggested the use of our radar sensors that have narrow beams and automatic algorithms that disregard false reflections. The radar sensor provides continuous level data to the SCADA which pumps monitors the station and controls the three pumps. Flowline is reliable level measurement.
