The optoNCDT 2300 is the latest high-end model of laser triangulation sensors from Micro-Epsilon. The new series offers an adjustable measuring rate up to 49.140 kHz. An impressive and worldwide unique fact regarding this sensor class is that the electronics of the system have already been integrated in the compact sensor. The optoNCDT 2300 is ideal for the most challenging applications in either diffuse or specular mode and can even measure the thickness of transparent materials.

Application flexibility
The optoNCDT 2300 can be operated in several measurement modes: in standard mode for displacement measurement of diffuse reflecting materials or with a special alignment mode to measure directly reflecting surfaces. Furthermore, the laser triangulation sensor can be used for one-sided thickness measurement of transparent materials (multi-peak evaluation). Therefore, the software provides a comprehensive materials database that is editable and expandable.
The A-RTSC (Advanced Real Time Surface Compensation) feature is a further development of RTSC technology and improves the surface compensation capability. This means the sensor is not influenced by rapidly changing surface reflections and provides stable measurement results.
All optoNCDT 2300 laser sensors are operated using an intuitive web interface. This web interface can be accessed via Ethernet, enabling the user to make settings for the processing of measured values and signals, e.g. peak selection, filter and masking features for the video signal.
Highest performance in laser triangulation
The optoNCDT 2300 is the high performance version of Micro-Epsilon laser triangulation sensors and offers an adjustable measuring rate of up to 49.14kHz. The optoNCDT 2300 is used for high speed applications such as the monitoring of vibrations or measurements on challenging surfaces. Due to their high resolution, sub-micrometer measurement accuracies are possible.
The new technology Blue Laser allows the sensors, absolutely precise and reliable measurement results on red-glowing metals and glowing silicium. The blue-violet laser offers decisive advantages. Even in the case of measurements being effected on organic matters such as veneers, wood, or skin, the blue laser makes an important contribution regarding precision. While allowing more stability, the blue laser light does not penetrate the measuring object due to the reduced blue-violet laser.
Blue Laser sensors belonging to the series optoNCDT 1700BL are designed for fast distance, displacement and position measurement on red-glowing metals. The sensors are equipped with new high-end lenses, laser control and evaluation algorithms.
The optoNCDT 1710-1000 laser sensors are unrivalled in measurement performance worldwide. The sensor can measure over a working range of 1,000mm. The start of measurement is 1,000mm from the sensor body which means that objects upto 2m in distance can be measured. The controller is integrated into the housing of the sensor which means that external electronic processing is not required. The sensor operates with automatic, real time surface compensation, RTSC which auto adapts the laser intensity to the surface being measured. Additionally built in, programmable limit switch give the sensor further integration flexibility.
Application areas of the sensor are:
Harsh environments
Large parts or areas where a large stand off are required
Target in vacuum – the sensor can measure through viewing windows
High object temperatures
In process measurements on difficult surfaces
