Custom eddy current sensors

Modifying the standard eddyNCDT sensors is sometimes necessary particularly for small and large series. Therefore, we modify the measuring systems according to your specific requirements, e.g., changes to the cable, sensor material and design, and to the controller. In particular, sensors with integrated electronics in a miniature housing or special sensor designs are often requested by systems integrators.

 Available options:

  •  Modified offset distance and measuring range
  •  Housing and mounting options for sensor and controller
  •  Pressure-resistant sensors up to 2,000 bar
  •  Sensors with integrated or external controller, miniature design
  •  Various materials for coil, housing and circuit boards
  •  Individual cable lengths, specific target calibrations

Customized inductive displacement sensors with Embedded Coil Technology

For particularly demanding OEM projects, we recommend the Embedded Coil Technology (ECT). Due to the miniature sensor design in inorganic material, almost all degrees of freedom for the outer shape are given. If required, the entire evaluation electronics can be integrated into the sensor. This allows ECT sensors to be adapted to special installation situations. ECT sensors are suitable for the harshest operating conditions and have proven successful, e.g., in the alignment of mirror segments on telescopes, semiconductor production in ultra-high vacuum and mill gap measurement of refiners in the paper industry.

 Available options:

  •  High long term stability
  •  Reproducible temperature course
  •  Extremly robust mechanics
  •  Ideal for high temperatures up to 350°C

High resolution and high speeds

The eddyNCDT 3300 controllers are equipped with high performance processors for signal processing and further processing. Three-point linearization enables almost fully automatic linearization, which provides high accuracies for any metallic target and installation environment. With a frequency response of up to 100kHz (-3dB), the eddyNCDT 3300 is suitable for high speed processes. The high resolution enables reliable detection of very small changes in displacement and distance in the sub-micrometer range.

Comprehensive sensor range

The eddyNCDT can be operated with almost every Micro-Epsilon sensor model. As well as standard sensors with conventional designs, miniature sensors can also be supplied that achieve high precision measurements of the smallest possible dimensions. Pressure-resistant versions, shielded housings, ceramic types and other special features characterize these sensors, which achieve highly accurate measurement results despite their small dimensions. The miniature sensors are primarily used in high pressure applications, for example, in combustion engines.

Smart
The eddyNCDT 3100 represents the new generation of eddy current displacement sensors. The configuration of the measurement system is effected via a web interface which can be easily operated. Additional sensor are required. Since all characteristics are stored within the sensor, all eddy current displacement sensors of the series 3100 can be easily exchanged without requiring an additional calibration.

Performance
The eddy current displacement measurement system uses a patented temperature compensation method to provide first-class stability even in the case of fluctuating temperature. Due to the high resolution and linearity demanding measurement tasks can also be fulfilled. With a cut-off frequency of 25kHz (-3dB) the eddyNCDT 3100 can also be applied for fast measurements.

Universal
Both the controller and the sensors can be applied in harsh environments. Switching between ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic measurement objects can also be effected easily. For the measurement with different channels up to 10 controllers can be synchronized (eddyNCDT 3100-SM).

The temperature range of the 3010 eddy current sensors ranges from -50 °C up to 150 °C. In the case of fluctuating ambient temperatures a stable output signal is very important for reliable measurements. Due to a patented temperature compensation method the eddyNCDT 3010 offers a unique thermal stability.

Capacitive sensors with Embedded Capa Technology

Capacitive sensors with Embedded Capa Technology are manufactured using a revolutionary type of production process. The new technology is also used for eddy current sensors. This means a significantly increased service life for the capacitive sensors is possible. Due to the embedding of the electrode in a very stable carrier material, significantly improved temperature stability is achieved when compared to conventional sensors currently available on the market. The brand new sensors can also be used in temperatures up to 200°C; even very low temperatures down to -269°C can be achieved. ECT enables significantly more freedom of design for the capacitive sensors. For example, the capaNCDT CSH-FL sensors have an installation height of just 4mm.
