When a New York building automation integrator needed reliable level measurement of their customers boiler water storage tanks, they turned to Flowline. The tanks provide a hot water inventory buffer between the tenant apartments and boilers located in the basement. To maintain the temperature throughout the system, hot water recirculates between the boilers, storage tanks and tenants. The tanks are hot, humid environments, dripping with condensation. The integrator wanted the longevity of using a non-contact level solution, but they had experienced problems with ultrasonic sensors in condensation, and they couldn’t afford pulse radar on this job. For this reason, Flowline suggested the use of our reflective-ultrasonic sensors that work in condensation. The ultrasonic sensor provides continuous level data to the PLC, which in turn, controls the tank fill valve and recirculation pump.
