When a California manufacturer of highway safety barriers needed reliable level measurement of their resin storage tanks, they turned to Flowline. The company blends unsaturated polyester resin with glass fiber, and pours the batch polymer into molds to produce their structural products. These resins are highly sticky, vaporous and flammable. Plant operators had previously deployed ultrasonic level sensors, but they experienced intermittent measurement due to vapor that attenuated their acoustic signals and caused false alarms. For these reasons, Flowline suggest the use of our intrinsically safe radar sensors that are unaffected by changing process variables such as vapor. The radar sensors provide continuous level data to the PLC which monitors the tanks and alarms for resin replenishment. Flowline is reliable level measurement.
