Turbocharger speed sensors

The turboSPEED DZ140 is designed for rotation speed measurements of turbochargers. The turbocharger rotation speed sensors are extremely compact and directly integrated in the turbocharger housing.

 Characteristics

  •  Large measurement distances from the blade
  •  Measurement against aluminum and titanium
  •  Speed range from 200 rpm to 400,000 rpm
  •  High interference immunity
  •  Miniature controller for integration in engine compartments
  •  Sensor operating temperature up to 285 °C

Robust miniature controller

All electronics are located in a miniature aluminum housing for easy integration into the engine compartment. Compared to other eddy current speed measuring systems, the DZ140 offers maximum immunity to interference (EMI), both in test rig operations and on-vehicle testing. The DZ140 eddy current measuring system is resistant to oil and dirt, which is a key advantage over optical speed measuring systems. This guarantees high precision and reliable measurement results in the harshest environment conditions.

Easy handling

A tri-color LED on the controller indicates when the sensor has reached the ideal distance from the turbocharger blades, which minimizes installation times. The system is backwards-compatible with previous sensor models, allowing an easy and quick sensor replacement. The sensor is connected to the electronics via a special BNC connector. An industrial push-pull connector provides a secure connection between electronics, power supply and signal outputs.

Measurement of aluminum and titanium blades

The DZ140 is the only measuring system to measure reliable on both aluminum and titanium blades. The sensors can be mounted at a relatively large distance from the blade. The maximum distance of 2.2mm still assures a safe and accurate reading. The DZ140 sensors can be used for temperatures up to 285 °C (550 °F).
